Welcome to the Journal.

Why we're writing this thing, what you can expect from it, and how it fits into the way we build players at The Den.

A place is only as honest as what it's willing to write down. That's what this Journal is for.

We built The Den × FCS to be the place in Houston where serious players train the way pros actually train. Measurement, structure, real coaching, real reps. We've been running that operation quietly for a while now. Coaches doing the work. Athletes hitting numbers. Nobody talking much about it outside the walls.

What this is

The Journal is where we put on paper what usually stays inside the building. Training philosophy. Player stories. What we're seeing in the cage. What we're seeing on the mound. Why we structure programs the way we do. What worked, what didn't, and what we're changing because of it.

Some pieces will be short — a lesson from a single bullpen, a note about arm care, a video breakdown. Others will be long — how we think about the summer program, why we care about the tools we care about, how our coaches came up.

Details equal numbers. Numbers equal outcomes. If we can't explain the details, we're not doing the work.

Who's writing

The coaches. The founders. Occasionally the athletes themselves. Everyone who writes here trains inside the walls. Nothing gets published that hasn't been road-tested with real players.

What to expect

Why now

Because too many training decisions in this sport get made on vibes. Kids picking programs based on what their buddy did, or a coach's Instagram, or what the last radar reading was at a showcase.

We think you deserve better. If you're going to spend a summer training somewhere — or a year, or a career — you should know exactly why the plan you're on is the plan you're on. This Journal is one way we can show our work.

Want to train here? Look at memberships, check the Summer Program, or reach out directly. We're here.
